With an invite to the Welsh Open accepted and the London & Southern Counties Area contests in the next couple of months, it is a busy time in the bandroom at Sandhurst!
Having lost a few players since the Christmas concert on the 19th of December, not only is the band preparing a varied 20 minute entertainment programme for the Welsh Open and Peter Graham’s Torchbearer for the Area, the band is also putting the final touches to line up, with new recruits.
The band said goodbye to Principal Trombone Nigel Howard who has joined Lydbrook Band as well as taking a new conducting role with Beech Hill. Former Chairman, Flugel and latterly cornet player; Mark Yarham has joined Aldbourne on Flugel, horn player Val Laure has decided to take a break from banding and lastly former Principal Cornet Mark McLauchlin has recently been playing with Redbridge.
The band would like to say a BIG thank you to these players, who were part of a great couple of years at Sandhurst with some great results and memories taking the 1st section by storm!
Watch this space for the new members to the band………….the Brass Band Registry will certainly be kept busy in the next couple of weeks!
